Landscape design: reflecting a sense of place and purpose

A garden is many things to many people: a sanctuary, a playground for young and old, a habitat that nurtures growth over time. It has the potential to offer space within our busy environment to relax, reflect, and enjoy.

Aligning this perspective with the specific needs of the client, the designer can ensure the rhythm of the garden will grow to match the heartbeat of its owner. The garden then becomes part of a holistic approach to living. Space for fine food, clean air, fresh water, and relationships with family and friends; all are woven comfortably into the design of a well-planned garden.

The home garden is for nurturing future explorers, scientists, artists, cooks and, of course, gardeners.

Stephen is a landscape designer who is passionate about all things design. He has a strong belief in the transformational nature of good design and its ability to maximise social and economic value.

After 20 years designing gardens in Australia and in Europe he has come to the realisation that access to quality green space is vital for our health and wellbeing.  Over the past few years he has developed a unique and fresh approach when designing gardens.

The fundamental difference is a collaborative process between client and designer.  Empathy for the location, architecture and those who use the garden are key influences, and the design is driven by what is needed.  Only then will the garden will work seamlessly - now and for years to come.
