Five years on – the reconstruction of Christchurch

Five years after the devastating earthquakes, Christchurch is well into its reconstruction work. However the work is painstakingly slow and there remain large vacant sections of the city where buildings have been demolished.

Traditional landmarks have disappeared and even local residents tell stories about becoming disoriented in their own city.

Mark is a Project Director for the Major Facilities Unit of the Christchurch City Council. He is closely involved in the long-term planning and reconstruction project.
