District Governor Dale Hoy: Rotary Looking to the Future

The District Governor is an administration officer of Rotary International and is directly responsible to the Board of RI for the administration of the District.  During the year, the District Governor carries out an official visit to each Club. This visit is to provide an opportunity for the DG to meet with the president, board and club members. The DG will address the club on Rotary International President’s theme and emphasis for the year. He will also highlight the District goals and focus and may comment on our club’s plans and objectives.

Dale Hoy has been a member of the Rotary Club of Brighton for 15 years and has served on the board as a director of Vocational Service, Fundraising, Foundation, Community Service and was President in 2016-17. He has been awarded a Paul Harris Double Sapphire, Royce Abbey Award and is a member of the Paul Harris Society.

Within the District Dale has been a trainer and facilitator for the District Rotary Leadership Institute for two years and has served as Assistant Governor for the Batman Cluster. He also successfully managed the inaugural Social Impact Forum for 18-35-year-olds at the recent Multi-District Rotary Conference.

Originally from Warrnambool, Dale has worked in Melbourne and abroad. He has a Bachelor Business and Master of Business Administration and is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and the Financial Services Institute of Australasia. Dale has worked in Audit and Corporate Services for Pricewaterhouse Melbourne, Taxation and Staff Training for Coopers and Lybrand, now combined as PwC and Hoare Govett Stock Brokers London and the Channel Islands.

In 1989 Dale started up a financial services company in Jakarta, Indonesia where he and his wife Maureen lived for 10 years. On his return to Australia he built another company from scratch offering an international retirement platform based in Hong Kong, Singapore and Channel Islands for upwardly mobile high net worth expatriates.

Dale has been married to Maureen for 26 years and they have a 24-year-old son Alex who is following in his father's footsteps and is employed by the chartered accounting firm KPMG. Maureen, a teacher in her early years was a member of Rotaract. She has been involved in charity work in Indonesia and as a volunteer for Family Life in Bayside. She is now involved in property development and design.
